Reflection

 

     How do you envision your growth throughout this process? What skills and knowledge do you hope to gain, and how will they contribute to your overall development?

The first area that I am hoping to grow in during my time at Trinity is my faith. Nothing that I learn here will amount to much if I don't build a firm foundation on God. I chose a Christian university in the hopes that it would teach me how to connect my religion to my schooling and help me obtain the necessary skills to build a Christ centered life. I hope that whatever I learn during my time here can be used to fulfill God's will for my life.

I also want to grow in community. I am hoping to be pushed out of my comfort zone to connect with the people around me more meaningfully and create a welcoming community. I want to know people and understand people and I want to learn how to apply that knowledge to the world around me. Everywhere I go I want to be building a welcoming community. 

I hope to write a book while I'm at Trinity. It's been a goal of mine since I was in elementary school and if I'm going to be working with authors I think it would be beneficial to be able to understand what exactly their job is.

However I imagine I will using the writing center for a lot of my classes once I started needing to write essays. I'm not used to having someone help me with my work, so I'm not sure what exactly that entails, but I have heard that working with a tutor in the writing center can make your work a lot better. Where are you right now in your academic journey? Describe your current major, interests, and any relevant experiences that have shaped your academic identity I am in my first semester of my first year at Trinity Western University. Originally I enrolled with the intention of pursuing a degree in Psychology, but I switched my major over to General Studies and am working on minors in Media + Communications and English.  When I was accepted into Trinity I applied for the Torch scholarship, so my parents are encouraging me to take all the classes I'm interested in and experiment until I find the subject I love.  Between classes and homework I don't have a lot of time to spend with friends, so meal times are one of the biggest social activities in my life right now.
